Moore Blatch extends Rising Star programme with double Paralympic Medallist

Innovative national law firm Moore Blatch is proud to support local talent, and has become an Official Sponsor of Lucy Shuker, Double Paralympic Medallist and Great Britain’s No.1 Paralympic Wheelchair Tennis Player.

Lucy is the third participant of Moore Blatch’s Rising Star programme, which identifies inspirational local talent, and helps them to achieve their goals and aspirations through raising awareness and providing funding. Through the programme, Moore Blatch and Lucy will work together to provide inspiration and motivation to the next generation of Paralympic athletes, using Lucy’s story as a platform to encourage others to follow their dream.

Moore Blatch will be sponsoring a charity dinner for Lucy at the Royal Mid Surrey Golf Club to celebrate her past and future achievements. The purpose of the dinner is to raise funds to allow Lucy’s training coach to accompany Lucy to her next few professional matches, allowing her coach to provide the continued support and development that all professional athletes require.

Despite a traumatic motorbike accident, which left her paralysed from the chest down in 2002, Lucy has represented Great Britain at three successive Paralympics – Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016. She made history at the London 2012 Paralympics, alongside teammate Jordanne Whiley, when the pair became the first women to win a medal for Great Britain in wheelchair tennis. Lucy will be looking to replicate this success at Wimbledon next month.

Other individuals who have received support from Moore Blatch’s Rising Star programme include 2020 women’s Olympic sailing contenders and British team members Megan Brickwood and Ellie Aldridge.

Lucy Shuker, Double Paralympic Medallist, said:

“I am really pleased to have been selected to join Moore Blatch’s Rising Star programme. Having been in a traumatic accident myself, I know how important getting the right support is for your long-term recovery. Moore Blatch’s ethos is to go above and beyond for their clients and communities in which they work, and I look forward to working with them to inspire the next generation of British Paralympic athletes.”

Trevor Sterling, Partner for Medical Relations at Moore Blatch said:

“At Moore Blatch, we are always proud to support important causes that bring change to communities in the UK. Through the Rising Star programme we hope to shine a light on and support inspirational figures in the areas where we work to provide further motivation and encouragement to others who may be in a similar position. Lucy is a world-class athlete and we look forward to working closely with her to ensure she receives the support she needs to realise her potential.”
