Loss of eye following accident at work

Our client sustained a significant injury to his eye as a result of an accident at work. As our client attempted to remove a screw from an old corrugated iron roof, a fragment of the screw came off and went into our client’s left eye.
We took over conduct of our client’s case from another firm of solicitors as our client was not satisfied with the level of service he had received from his previous firm.
The injury was such that our client’s eye was surgically removed and he was subsequently fitted with a prosthetic eye.
We instructed numerous medical experts including a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, a Clinical Psychologist, a Consultant Psychiatrist and an Occularist.
We also instructed an employment expert to comment upon our client’s employment prospects following the accident.
The claim involved allegations of contributory negligence and issues concerning what our client would have done employment wise had the accident not occurred.
As a result of his injuries our client was unable to return to his pre-accident employment.
We successfully pursued court proceedings on his behalf and secured a significant six figure settlement prior to trial.
