This December I took part in a Christmas gift wrapping fundraising activity at Foyles Bookstore, Charing Cross branch, in aid of the Royal National Institute of Blind People.
It is a harder task than some may think, with an influx of customers expecting beautifully wrapped books to place under the tree for Christmas, but I was up for the challenge! I had a lovely partner in crime, and the both of us had a fantastic time learning new wrapping skills and meeting lots of different people!
Customers saw some beautifully wrapped gifts (not always by me though!), making great use of the Foyles ribbons and bows, and for each present wrapped we requested a £2 donation! Gift wrapping at Foyles was available for a week in the run up to Christmas and over this time we managed to raise over £1,300!! Krista Dixon from RNIB said “This is an amazing achievement, more than what we had hoped for! We are so grateful to our incredible team of volunteers and the money raised will continue to help support people living with sight loss”
Foyles Store Manager Stephen Clarke said “Really great result – I do hope that you and the team are happy with the money raised” The fundraising activity was such a success that Foyles have agreed to have us again this year which we are so pleased about. This could not have been achieved without the support of volunteers kindly giving up their time to support RNIB.
It was a really wonderful experience wrapping presents at Christmas time for such a worthy charity. I loved every minute of it and was so pleased to help an organisation that I absolutely love.
